Business requirements, irrespective of company size, are moving faster than IT can deliver. This is driven by a number of factors – including regulatory pressure, new digital business models, an increasingly “always-on”, “real-time” environment. In parallel, companies have to assimilate an ever-increasing volume of technological advances at any one time.
Legacy software is accentuating these challenges to a point where the legacy code is increasingly been seen as a serious risk, cost and barrier to business change.
As soon as an application is built that source code in on a path to legacy. Added functionality, amendments, changes to the original architect’s team, poorly documented code – all of these add to the risk and cost to the business.
As with all areas of business, the IT department faces constant pressure to reduce cost (both OPEX and CAPEX) whilst increasing output and capability for the business.
SCAD Software has a solution to help break this cycle. A Build, Operate, Transfer (BOT) solution reduces the amount of source code by up to 95%. It is much quicker to deploy than traditional development and delivers a 30-40% cost saving to a business for each application/solution that is included by the BOT offering.
1 – SCAD will transform an existing application/solution using the SCAD framework. This will reduce the amount of source code by up to 95%. The transformed application can be hosted in the cloud, on premise or as a hybrid as required by the client. The time it takes to transform the application will depend upon the exact scope. Typically, SCAD will have the transformed application up and running within 3-6 months.
2 – SCAD will deliver a fully managed service for the management, support and maintenance of that application to the client. This includes an agreed SLA based support plan, changes and enhancements to the application. We have two cost models: 1. Where we take over the running of the existing team and 2. Where the Client maintains the existing team which become redeployed and we deliver the transformation and managed service.
3 – At the end of the contract period (typically 5-7 years), the client has the option. Transfer the application/solution back to a technology of their choosing for internal management and development or continue with the managed service.
- A 30% to 40% reduction in cost of ownership over a 5 year period compared to an in-house solution.
- A 75% faster time to market for a new/upgraded capability for the business (vs traditional development)
- Fast flexible service to add new business capability
- Transformation of the application into a modern technology of your choice
- Fully documented application
